Lime Control

Better Soil, Better Grass

Balance Your Soil…Change Your Lawn!

If your soil is acidic, your lawn will benefit from a lime application. This is the practice of applying lime to your lawn in order to reduce soil acidity (raising the pH level above 7) making it more favorable for turf grass growth. In Maryland rainfall tends to remove calcium and magnesium replacing it with acidic ions leaving your soil in the acidic zone on the scale. Because lime takes a long time to react with soil, winter applications are recommended to prepare your lawn for spring.

Your Stewart technician will test your soil pH for FREE to determine the amount of lime and number of applications necessary to properly balance your soil. We use granular limestone to reduce dusty residue that is common when using powdered lime; These granules are held together with a water-soluble substance that dissolves quickly when wet to allow for absorption deep into your soil.
